An Extended Generalized Lindley Distribution and Its Applications to Lifetime Data
In this paper, a four parameters extension of the generalized Lindley distribution is introduced. The new distribution includes the power Lindley, Lindley, generalized (Stacy) gamma, gamma, Weibull, Rayleigh, exponential and half-normal distribution. Several statistical properties of the distribution are explored. Then, a bivariate version of the proposed distribution is derived. Using a simula...
متن کاملEstimating Lifetime Earnings Distributions Using Copulas∗
In this paper we illustrate both the usefulness of copulas as a statistical technique for modelling dependence in earnings across the lifecycle, as well as contrast it with more traditional approaches for modelling earnings dynamics that appear in the literature. Our model can be estimated using a two-period panel on earnings, in contrast to more traditional approaches which generally require a...
متن کاملA New Lifetime Distribution
Many if not most lifetime distributions are motivated only by mathematical interest. Here, a new three parameter distribution motivated mainly by lifetime issues is introduced. Some properties of the new distribution including estimation procedures are derived. Two real data applications are described to show superior performance versus at least seven of the known lifetime models.
متن کاملA new lifetime distribution
A new two-parameter distribution with decreasing failure rate is introduced. Various properties of the introduced distribution are discussed. The EM algorithm is used to determine the maximum likelihood estimates and the asymptotic variances and covariance of these estimates are obtained. Simulation studies are performed in order to assess the accuracy of the approximation of the variances and ...
متن کاملThe Lifetime Behavior of a New Discrete Time Mixed $delta$-shock Model
In this study, a mixed $delta$-shock model with discrete-time is defined by combining $delta$-shock and extreme shock models. In this model, a system with multiple states fails in two ways: first, when k interarrival times between two consecutive shocks with magnitude larger than the critical threshold $gamma$ are in $[delta_1, delta _2], delta_1 < delta _2$; and second, when the interarrival t...
